Description

Canine Companion offers in-home and remote sessions. Each session is as unique as it’s canines and humans. For that reason each private session is comprehensive and distinct to your individual situation, taking your canine companion’s particular details into account.

There are honest reasons for every behaviour we see in our beloved canine companions. When we pay attention what drives these behaviours, we can effectively help our dogs to overcome them permanently.
From separation-anxiety, chewing the wrong things, barking excessively, pulling on walks and being reactive to strangers to an array of unexplained anxieties, aggressive streaks and everything in between.

FAQs...

Do you use kind training methods?

Yes, Canine Companion uses positive-reinforcement training techniques which are a reward-based and force-free way of training.

This training involves enjoyable learning through positive associations, which results in long-lasting behavioural change. These training methods also intentionally enhance the human-canine bond.

What is the cost?

The cost for private training & consultation is calculated according to; travel distance to your home, when your session is booked for, what your dog's behavioural or training needs are, how many dogs etc. Feel free to inquire here.

Remote assistance is discounted as there is no travel charge.

What does a behaviourist do?

A behaviourist analyses and modifies canine behaviour, such as fear-based aggression, anxiety-related reactiveness, stress-related destructiveness and compulsive behaviours, to name only a few.

Behaviourists assess behaviours based on the pet's history, past and present environments, lifestyles, breed tendencies, individual characteristics, and so on. They then create a personalised program and guide owners on facilitating improvement and recovery.

In short, they assesses underlying causes of problematic behaviours, provide guidance using specific methodologies, and develop customised training plans to address and modify troublesome behaviours.

How long will it take to leash train my dog?

Is your dog pulling you on the leash? For dog training several factors should be considered, including your dog's age, breed, and the consistency & effectiveness of training methods used during training.

How long-standing the behaviour is (pulling on the leash and/or reactivity) and how high the level of intensity is for the particular individual, will also affect training time.

While some canines learn to walk calmly on a leash within a single training session, others may require a couple of sessions.

It’s important to remain positive, patient and consistent, gradually building the inividual dog's confidence, skill, and understanding of “leash etiquette”.
